First look: Velocity 2012

Velocity fever is just in the early stage, but it’s definitely begun. Last week, the folks at O’Reilly announced the speaker list for Velocity 2012, and it looks like a good one. And I’m not just saying that because our VP Technology, Hooman Beheshti, has been invited to lead a workshop on advanced mobile optimization. Hooman is a great speaker and one of the most knowledgeable people you will ever meet, and you should definitely check out his session. But looking over the list of confirmed speakers to date, there’s a lot to look forward to this June. Here are a few:

Performance Implications of Responsive Web Design (Jason Grigsby)

If you don’t already care about responsive design, you should start now.

A Web Perf Dashboard: Up & Running in 90 Minutes (Aaron Kulick and Cliff Crocker)

Pretty self-explanatory. If this session is anything like Aaron and Cliff’s recent Meetup about Walmart’s performance, it’ll be excellent.

Selecting and deploying automated optimization solutions (Pat Meenan)

Pretty excited about this one for obvious reasons. 🙂

Getting A Grip On CDN Performance: Why And How (Aaron Peters)

For anyone who wants a deeper, real-world look at how their CDN affects actual users.

Down with the fancy pants! How people have been optimizing the wrong things and increased complexity (Jan Schaumann)

I like contrarians. Jan’s session sounds like it’ll offer some provocative food for thought.

I’m curious to know: looking at the speaker line-up, what sessions do you consider must-sees? Let me know in the comments.
