Friday Four: Velocity Edition

The countdown is on. Four days till Velocity. A lot has changed since last year. Planning for web performance has gone from nice-to-have to need-to-have, and I’m ridiculously excited to learn what my peers have been up to.

In the meantime, here’s an all-Velocity edition of the Friday Four, featuring a few of next week’s presenters who have been kind enough to give us a sneak peek at their presentations.

Metrics 101
Alistair Croll and Sean Power are giving a followup to last year’s popular presentation of the same name. Definitely a must-see.

The Upside of Down Time: How to Turn a Disaster into an Opportunity
Another must-see, this one from Lenny Rachitsky.

The Measurable Value of Performance by Design
Last year, Tim Morrow of Shopzilla wowed attendees with the amazing before-and-after metrics he shared of Shopzilla’s performance overhaul. I still quote his numbers all the time. This year Tim is going to talk about why and how Shopzilla took their eye off the performance ball, and what it cost them. I’m really looking forward to this one.

And rounding out the Friday Four, if you think I’m excited, you should check out the Velocity buzz on Twitter.
